04-249 ASIC appoints ACT Regional Commissioner
Monday 2 August 2004
The Chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), Mr Jeffrey Lucy today announced that Ms Delia Rickard has been appointed ASIC’s Regional Commissioner for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
Ms Rickard took up the role as ACT Regional Commissioner in July.
‘We are delighted that Delia has taken on this important responsibility and look forward to her contribution to the Commission’s activities in the ACT’, Mr Lucy said.
‘I am confident Delia will make a positive contribution as a Regional Commissioner, building on her work with ASIC to date’, Mr Lucy added.
Ms Rickard joined ASIC in 1999 and has held a number of senior positions in the Consumer Protection directorate, working closely with the consumer sector, industry and other areas of government. She currently holds the position of Deputy Executive Director, Consumer Protection.
Before joining ASIC, Ms Rickard ran the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s consumer protection branch and also worked on the Secretariat for the Wallis Inquiry into Australia’s financial system.
Ms Rickard replaces Mr Ron Ladlay, who left ASIC in January this year at the expiry of his term. Ms Linda Dean, ASIC’s Director of Business Management, has been acting in the position until Ms Rickard’s appointment.
Mr Lucy also announced that Mr Michael Gething’s term as ASIC’s Western Australian Regional Commissioner has been extended for three years.
