The ASIC Training Register lists training courses and individual assessment services that have been approved by ASIC authorised assessors as meeting ASIC's training requirements in relation to Regulatory Guide 146 Licensing: Training of financial product advisers (RG 146).
RG 146 sets out ASIC's training standards for people who provide financial product advice to retail clients. You should read RG 146 to become familiar with ASIC's requirements and the terms used in the Training Register.
In general, advisers will meet ASIC's training standards by undergoing individual assessment or successfully completing courses on the Training Register relevant to their advisory activities, eg financial planning, superannuation, general insurance, etc. Advisers must retain documentary evidence that they have completed a course or have been assessed.
About the ASIC Training Register
The ASIC Training Register is administered by Learning Advisory Services Australia Pty Limited (LASA) on ASIC's behalf.
Courses listed in the Training Register include:
courses currently approved by ASIC;
courses that are valid only if they were completed prior to 31 December 2002 (or the date as listed on the Register); and
courses written before 1995 and no longer delivered, but considered acceptable by us (note: no more pre-1995 courses will be listed).
The Training Register also includes an Archived courses section that lists courses that no longer meet ASIC's training standards or are no longer offered.
How to use the Training Register
Course information listed in the register includes:

course details
course award
specialist knowledge

where the course is delivered
training and assessment method
date that ASIC placed the course on its register and the date it ceased to be on the register
course duration
approximate cost of course
where the course has been re-registered, the date of re-registration
if the course has been de-registered, the date and reason for de-registration

It is important to check the end date of each course as this is the date it ceased to be on the register. If a course has an end date, it no longer meets ASIC's training standards or is no longer offered. However, if you completed the course prior to the end date noted on the register, your qualification will continue to be recognised by ASIC. Ceased courses can be located under the Archived courses section of the database.
You can search for courses or assessment services using keywords or phrases and by selecting certain criteria (e.g. Knowledge Category, Tier, Delivery Method, Location etc.). You can also search courses that are no longer offered by selecting this as part of your search criteria.
Knowledge categories are listed in alphabetical order. After selecting the relevant category, click on the arrow next to your preferred delivery method (this includes individual assessment). This will give you a list of available courses. Click on the name of a particular course to see the relevant provider details. Note that not all courses have a delivery method recorded yet. This information will be added when the training providers give the details to LASA.
This search allows you to find training courses and assessment services by location (ie capital city, region). Click on the location to obtain a list of course providers for that location; click on provider details for a list of courses and assessment services.. Not all courses or assessment services have a location recorded yet. You will find these listed as 'location not recorded'. This information will be added when the training providers give the details to LASA.
If you know the name of the training provider you wish to use, search for it in the register under this alphabetical listing. You can choose to search for a provider by either knowledge category or course name. Click on the course name to get the provider details.
You can search for courses or assessment services that cover the educational levels for Tier 1 or Tier 2 products. Click on the course name to get the provider details.
