CP 15 Disclosure: Discretionary powers and transition

Released 26 April 2001. Comment closed 7 June 2001.

This policy proposal paper explains how ASIC will approach relief from compliance with Part 7.9 of the Financial Services Reform Bill 2001 (the Bill). Part 7.9 of the Bill includes the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) requirements and ongoing disclosure requirements for financial products (generally other than securities).

The paper discusses:

  • our general policy on relief from Part 7.9 of the Bill including how you can apply for relief;
  • how Part 7.9 of the Bill will affect our existing policies and decisions, including a list of those policy publications that will continue to provide guidance; and
  • how existing disclosure documents may be affected by the Bill.
