ASIC issues regulatory materials including regulatory guides, information sheets, letters to trustees, consultation papers and FAQs, and may grant individual and legislative instrument(formerly class order)relief to guide and assist the industry to meet the regulatory requirements relevant to the superannuation industry.

Shorter PDS

The relief for superannuation platforms, multi-funds and hedge funds now runs until 30 June 2017.  The relief in CO 12/749 Relief from the Shorter PDS regime and CO 12/1592 means that issuers of these products will remain subject to the disclosure provisions under Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act 2011.

What's new

Innovative retirement income stream products

From 1 July 2017, the government will extend the tax exemption on earnings in the retirement phase to new innovative retirement income stream products. A new cross-agency process has been developed to help industry.
