Product dashboard

ASIC issues regulatory materials including regulatory guides, information sheets, letters to trustees, consultation papers and FAQs, and may grant individual and legislative instrument (formerly class order) relief to guide and assist the industry to meet the regulatory requirements relevant to the superannuation industry.

In May 2014, following a review of existing MySuper product dashboards, ASIC issued further guidance to superannuation trustees about their obligation to produce a product dashboard for MySuper products

16-130MR Further update on Stronger Super regime (May 2016). This media release includes details of the instruments extending implementation of the Choice Product Dashboard and Portfolio Holdings Disclosure.  In addition it refers to ASIC further extending previous relief that allows registrable superannuation entities (RSE) licensees to provide a product dashboard with a periodic statement by including a website address for the latest product dashboard, rather than requiring a hard copy of the dashboard to be included with the periodic statement

Choice product dashboard

Commencement of the obligation of trustees to make product dashboards for choice products publicly available has been deferred until 1 July 2017 - see ASIC Corporations (Amendment) Instrument 2016/351, which amends Class Order 14/443 Deferral of choice product dashboard and portfolio holdings disclosure regimes (CO 14/443).

What's new

Compliance time period extended for ASIC Class Order [CO 14/1252]

Due to the expert review of RG 97 that is currently underway, ASIC has decided to preserve the status quo at law by extending the time periods for compliance with certain aspects of ASIC Class Order [CO 14/1252] in relation to periodic statements and superannuation PDSs by one year. Accordingly ASIC has modified [CO 14/1252].

ASIC appoints expert to review fees and costs disclosure settings

ASIC has appointed Darren McShane, who has extensive experience in the superannuation and managed investments industry, to conduct a review of the fees and costs disclosure requirements under RG 97.  The review is expected to be completed in the first half of 2018.
