Company and organisation registers
Key points:
- You can search ASIC’s registers for information about a company or some other organisation types.
- You can search by the organisation name, a registered business name they hold, or a unique identifier such as an ACN.
- Some information on the register is available for free.
- You can use ASIC's company alert service to keep track of changes made to companies.
About the company and organisation registers
ASIC maintains registers of Australian companies and several other types of organisations. Anyone can search the registers to find information about a company or organisation.
The following is a list of the types of organisations you can search ASIC registers for. We have included links to information about how to register them.
- Australian companies
- Registered Australian bodies
- Foreign companies operating in Australia
- Managed investment schemes.
Search company and organisation registers
Search for a company or organisation
Under ‘Search ASIC Registers’, select ‘Search within: Organisation & Business names’. Enter the term you want to search by. This can be:
- a company or organisation name
- a business name held by the company or organisation
- an ACN, ARBN or Australian Registered Scheme Number (ARSN).

Information available on these registers
Free information
Basic information about the company or organisation is available for free. This includes:
- company or organisation name
- type of company or organisation
- ABN, ACN, ARBN or ARSN
- registration date
- next review date
- the suburb, state and postcode of the registered office address
- a list of documents lodged with ASIC.
Paid information
If you need more information than what you can get for free, you can buy more information online.
You will see the information that you can buy below the free information in the search results. This information includes company extracts, which contain details of the company's officeholders.
Important change
Officeholder addresses are not available in this ASIC extract.
ASIC implemented this change in response to broader privacy and safety concerns including the potential to access personal information, heightened concerns around personal safety and to reduce the risk of identity theft and cyber-crime.

Copies of documents
You can buy copies of publicly available documents that have been lodged with ASIC in relation to the company or organisation. You will see the publicly available documents below the free information.
Handy hint: The last 3 documents lodged will appear first, but you can select 'show all documents' to see more.
Fees for copies of documents are:
- $20 for a document of less than 10 pages.
- $50 for a document of 10 pages or more.
Documents lodged may include personal information
If you are a company officeholder and worried about your safety, you can ask us to hide your residential address.
Company alert service
The company alert service is a free service that allows you to track certain changes made to a company. These are changes contained in documents that have been lodged with us.
