How do I know if the name I want is available?
Use our 'Check name availability' search to see if the company name you want is available.

If you want to keep track of a specific company, you can create an alert and receive notifications when they lodge certain documents.
How do I find out if a company is being wound up?
Search the ASIC Insolvency notices website for insolvency notices, company deregistrations, and other information.

Our online registers have some information available about a person's role in an organisation or any bannings and disqualifications they may be subject to.

How do I find information about a financial adviser?
The 'Financial adviser register' is available on MoneySmart and has detailed information about all appointed financial advisers, including their employment history and products they are authorised to provide.
What is data.gov.au?
Data.gov.au is a website that provides public access to government data and allows for information to be downloaded and re-used in a variety of ways. ASIC is committed to publishing registry data sets on data.gov.au to give everyone the opportunity to view and use our data to conduct research and develop new products and services.
What information is on ASIC's professional registers?
Our professional registers include information on Australian financial services licensees, Australian credit licensees, auditors, liquidators and other professionals on ASIC Connect.
Our 'Banned and Disqualified' search on ASIC Connect has details for any persons that have been banned or disqualified by ASIC from certain activities.
A person who is disqualified under Part 6-5 of the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 is automatically disqualified from managing companies registered under section 206B(5) of the Corporations Act 2001. You can search the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) Register of Disqualified Officers to see any relevant bannings and disqualifications.
How can I search for lodged documents?
You can use our 'Documents search' on ASIC Connect to find information about documents lodged with us.
How can I find information about charities?
The Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) registers organisations as charities. This may include organisations that are registered with us as public companies limited by guarantee, proprietary limited companies or registered Australian bodies.
To find the latest information about a registered charity, you should search the ACNC's register.
Are there any fees for searching?
Some of our search products can be viewed for free, while we are required to charge a fee for others. Our website outlines the different types of information you can receive.

All searches for unclaimed money can be done through ASIC's MoneySmart website.
