Service availability

ASIC often plan interruptions to our online services so we can install system upgrades. This page contains details of planned or unscheduled outages to our online services.

If you've been redirected to this page, then it means our online services are currently undergoing maintenance. Our 'Service interruptions' section below will have more information on when our services will be back online. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Unscheduled outages

There are currently no unscheduled outages. 

Scheduled service interruptions

To help customers plan for any scheduled service interruptions, we publish the dates and details eight weeks in advance.
Note: All times on this page are Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT)


Daily system maintenance: 4.00 am to 4.30 am

Customers may experience interruptions to services or system slowness during this timeframe, while ASIC performs regular system maintenance tasks. Services impacted include:

  • M2M Services
  • DataStream Services
  • EDGE Services

These maintenance tasks are performed at this time to avoid customer impacts during regular AEST business hours.

Explanation of each online service

ASIC website wording Description
ASIC Connect Search - business names and companies

ASIC Connect Search is the online system used to search ASIC's register.

Performing or purchasing paid searches on companies and business names.

ASIC Connect Lodgement - business names, financial advisers, authorised representatives

ASIC Connect Lodgement is our online service for registering and updating business names, financial advisers and authorised representatives.

ASIC Online Lodgement - Companies, Registered Agents, Auditors, Liquidators, AFS Licensees, Credit Licensees, and Short Sellers

ASIC Online Lodgement is our online service for lodging electronic documents for Companies, Auditors, Liquidators, AFS Licensees and Credit Licensees.

This service is also used by Registered agents to make lodgements to ASIC registers on behalf of companies.
M2M Services

Machine-to-Machine (m2m) is a web service technology. This requires agencies to develop software and their own user interface.

This allows for the agency to submit lodgements and search requests.

Australian Business Register (ABR) Joint Registration

ABR Joint Registration allows for a business name and Australian Business Number (ABN) to be registered at the same time through the ABR website.

ASIC Connect Government access

ASIC Connect Government access is a search portal used by government entities to access the national business names register for free.

DataStream services DataStream is a service used by Information Brokers.
EDGE Services

EDGE is a system used by Registered Agents.

This allows Registered Agents to lodge maintenance forms on behalf of companies and a variety of reports.
ASIC Regulatory Portal ASIC Regulatory Portal is a portal used by Regulated entities with industry funding obligations, Self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) auditors, Australian passport fund operators and foreign passport fund operators and Trusted representatives of regulated entities – company employees, compliance officers, registered agents, or service providers to apply and maintain.

ASIC Professional Registers Search

ASIC Professional Registers Search is a web service to find information about a person or company and if they are registered or licensed with ASIC to perform a service, such as providing financial advice or offering investments.

Short Position Reporting Register

Australian short sellers without an Australian Company Number (ACN) or Australian Registered Body Number (ARBN) and overseas short sellers without a SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) must register before they can submit a short position report.

ASIC Organisational Suitability Assessment

ASIC Organisational Suitability Assessment is a platform used by applicants onboarding to ASIC.

Report of Misconduct

ASIC Report of Misconduct is a web service for reporting problems or possible breaches of the law that help ASIC regulate the financial system in Australia.
