MoneySmart wins best website award

MoneySmart, ASIC’s personal finance website, has been named best Service Delivery website at the 2012 Excellence in eGovernment Awards last night.

The awards recognise excellence, innovation and professionalism in the use of information and communications technology.

MoneySmart Senior Manager Robert Drake said: ‘This award is a fantastic acknowledgement of our unique approach to helping the community with money matters. This recognition echoes the positive feedback we regularly receive from users.

‘We know the best way to help people with their money is to give them simple practical guidance and achievable first steps, packaged in a clear, inviting design.’

Since its launch in March 2011, www.moneysmart.gov.au has attracted 2 million unique visitors. The website includes 25 financial calculators, 197 expert videos on YouTube, over one hundred case studies, quizzes, an interactive glossary and smart tips. MoneySmart’s phone app calculators have been downloaded by 85,000 people.

The most popular tool is the Budget Planner. On average 28,000 people per month to take control of their finances.

Another popular tool is the Retirement Planner. This helps people to calculate whether they will have enough income per year when they retire. It also shows what steps they can take now to boost their retirement income.
